"Form small flanges"

Forming small flanges has traditionally been a very difficult operation when performed in standard steel "V" dies, this is due to material 'slippage' during the bending operation.

Amada's "L" Bending Tool offers the user the possibility of forming small flanges on the inside or outside of the component.

The tooling is easily adjustable for different material thickness. As the punch comes down the material is 'wiped' up by the die blade. Because the forming operation is not taking place within a "V", it is possible to achieve a height of 1.5 x material thickness.

The die blade has two radii (0.2 & 1.5mm) and is reversible. depending upon the size of flange required and the material thickness the die blade is set accordingly.

It is also possible to form component 'inside' flanges using the sectionalised die blades.
