"Providing positive location for spot-welding"

Positive location for spot welding purposes poses all sorts of time consuming issues including the manufacture of jigs or fixtures or performing various forming operations so easy location of the component can be achieved.

Amada's Locator Tool provides positive location for all spot welding purposes, eliminating any problems caused by semi-shear operation by the fact that there is no visible marking on the outside of the component.

The "B" Stn tool is located in the auto index station. When the striker come down the Locator Tool performs a small forming operation by "kicking" up the material approx. 0.4 - 0.6mm. The tool is then rotated 90 degrees in the auto index station and the punching process is repeated on the designated material position. Positive location can now be achieved.

The locator tool dramatically reduces the need for the manufacture of any holding devices or jigs, saving production time and costs.
